Valerie Lewis is a passionate advocate of Service Disabled Veterans and served her country as one of “the few, the proud,” a United States – Marine. She is also a Service Disabled Veteran. She graduated from Phillips Jr. College, Campbell, CA with her Associates of Arts Degree in Paralegal Studies. She is licensed by the State of California, Department of Real Estate as a Real Estate Agent and serves as a Real Estate Professional in Good Standing. Her background includes fighting for Veterans rights and Veterans housing. She is the Founder of the Veterans Clean and Sober Living House, a Homeless Veterans Program in Alameda County.
In its incubator stage, Valerie volunteered her time and helped the Founder and Director – Mr. Irvin Goodwin, of the Homeless Veteran’s Emergency Shelter Program located on the VA grounds at Menlo Park, CA. Valerie was invited to speak with Veterans and other Homeless Men at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail. She has given talks on overcoming tremendous odds and obstacles. She stands as a testimony to defeating the odds against oppression. Valerie has volunteered at Operation Stand-down in Alameda County.
Valerie has been a champion for Women Veterans and has helped countless Disabled Veterans earn their benefits they so justly deserve. In 2007, NCA ELITE were the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sponsors for the Veteran and Small Business Outreach Event in Sparks, NV. She was awarded the “Freedom Team Salute Certificate of Appreciation” for outstanding service to the Nation as a United States soldier. She was recognized for her patriotism and continued support of the Global War on Terrorism issued by Chief of Staff, General George W. Casey Jr., USA and the Honorable Pete Geren, Secretary of the Army. Valerie is an advocate on the American Legion, Veteran Small Business Task Force headquartered in Washington, DC and an Executive Committee Member of VETFORCE a Washington, DC based non-profit veterans advocacy group.
Valerie served on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corp from October 1979 thru October 1983 and was honorably discharged. Her tour of duty started in Parris Island, SC where she attended Boot Camp. Her first duty station was HQ New River Air Station, New River, NC. She did a tour of duty overseas and served in Okinawa Japan at H&HS (MCAS) Marine Corp Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. Her last duty station was Headquarters Squadron, Headquarters Marine Corp Barracks Norfolk, Virginia.
Valerie Lewis is the Owner of Valerie Lewis Janitorial (VLJ) Service headquartered in Oakland, California, the mother of a Howard University Honors Graduate, Agzja Carey and currently serves as President Northern CA SDVOSB/DVBE Network where she continues to serve Veterans locally and nationally.
