Latino Economic Policy Summit & National Training
NALCAB presents its inaugural Latino Economic Policy Summit, followed by 2020 National Training – virtual edition — from October 27-30, 2020. The Summit will include a live discussion with US Representative Joaquin Castro (TX-20) and other elected officials and community leaders to explore policy solutions for our nation’s Latino communities. The annual National Training event follows with three days of interactive training sessions for community development practitioners.
Taking Action: Standing Up for Racial Justice
On September 22, 2020, President Trump issued Executive Order 13950, which is much more restrictive than just banning the use of federal dollars for diversity training. The EO creates conflicts with state laws and provides a path for needless government investigations into organizations’ private practices.
CAMEO will send a letter to Congress to express our opposition to the implementation of this EO. Please contact Heidi Pickman if you would like your organization to sign on by tomorrow, Friday, October 23, 2020.
On a related note, CAMEO is supporting Prop 16 to reverse the ban on affirmative action, which we feel will provide more opportunity to minority-owned businesses.
