The state Senate approved AB 1864, legislation that will create the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) to replace the existing Department of Business Oversight.

The DFPI will have authority to bring actions against previously unregulated industries and offer protections to California small business owners facing hardships. CAMEO and many of its members were part of a large coalition that actively supported AB 1864.

Learn more about this and other bills of interest for the small business sector on our latest CAMEO Blog.

In other news, CAMEO is partnering with GO-Biz on the California Rebuilding Fund, a new public-private partnership that will leverage government backed capital to support California’s small businesses – especially the smallest under-served firms and entrepreneurs from communities that have been historically disenfranchised.
