A recipe for economic growth: Why San Bernardino County needs home kitchen permits

Our neighbors in Los Angeles County joined Riverside and San Diego Counties in taking a groundbreaking step toward fostering economic opportunity and entrepreneurship earlier this month. For the first time, home cooks will be able to obtain Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operation (MEHKO) permits from the LA County Department of Public Health, allowing them to legally sell prepared foods to the public. Despite the proven benefits of legalizing and providing further training for home cooks, San Bernardino County has yet to opt in to the MEHKO permitting process, missing out on a golden opportunity to empower our residents and boost our local economy.
