African American Small Business Organizations

Entrepreneurship and small business ownership can often be a path to success and wealth building for underserved communities when traditional employment comes up short – and such is the case for black and African American communities across California. Few organizations are better at addressing the needs of these populations than those with a dedicated and specialized focus on developing black entrepreneurship.

In honor of African American History Month, we’d like to highlight three of our member organizations who have done extensive work advancing the interests and priorities of black small business owners.

 

California Black Chamber of Commerce

The California Black Chamber of Commerce is the largest African American non-profit business organization representing hundreds of small and emerging businesses, affiliates and chambers of commerce throughout the state.

If you own a business, represent one, manage an association/organization, or you are a corporate leader the CBCC can provide advocacy assistance for your supplier diversity needs, and business development and training for your small business.

 

Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce

OAACC was established in 2003. We are a private non-profit organization whose mission is to advance economic opportunity and strengthen Oakland’s Black business community.

We provide a number of services for our business associates and members including access to workshops, business development opportunities, and advocacy. Members may also take advantage of business advising, notary and certificate of origin services.

 

Sac Black Biz

Sac Black Biz is a Facebook-based community that aims to connect, support, and promote black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs of African-American, African, and/or Caribbean descent in Sacramento County.
