The First CAMEO Summit: A Recap
The 2023 CAMEO Summit (our very first one!) was a resounding success – all thanks to our attendees, sponsors, volunteers, and of course, staff. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made the trip to downtown Sacramento for Advocacy Day, MicroLenders Forum, or both. It is a testament to the commitment of our network to address the issues and challenges facing entrepreneurs each and every day.

Support SB 33 in the Assembly
SB 33 will eliminate the 2024 sunset date for SB 1235 and guarantee transparency for businesses and certainty for providers that the required financing disclosure rules implemented in December 2022 will remain in place.
SB 33 passed the Assembly Banking Committee on Monday and will be heard in the Judiciary Committee on June 20 at 9:00 am PT in the State Capitol, Room 437. Please sign on to this letter of support for SB 33. If you are in Sacramento, join us at the hearing.

CAMEO is searching for a Full-Time Vice President, Finance & Operations.
Reporting to the CEO and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the VP, Finance and Operations will be responsible for the development of CAMEO’s financial management strategy and contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals.

Funding Opportunities
- EDA is now accepting applications for its $50 million Build to Scale (B2S) program to support projects that increase access to capital for entrepreneurs, and startups. The deadline to apply is July 28, 2023.
- The California Supplemental Paid Sick Leave program will award funds to eligible businesses and nonprofits that have incurred costs for COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave.
Policy and Advocacy
- Public Private Strategies Institute will host a Business Leader Briefing with Chair of the Federal Trade Commission Lina Khan on June 21, 2023 at 11:00 am PT. CAMEO is a co-host.
- Camp Prosperity 2023 is a free, 3-week virtual learning series designed to enhance your advocacy skills and connect you with like-minded advocates from across the country.

- The California Academy for Economic Development’s “Introduction to Economic Development” course will be held October 16-19, 2023. Applications close September 22, 2023.
