Your Advocacy Guide to Congressional Recess

Congressional recess is a prime opportunity to connect with lawmakers while they’re in their home districts. The next recesses are June 30–July 4 and August 4–September 1. To help you make the most of this time, we worked with Public Private Strategies to create a guide for CAMEO Network members and partners to engage with elected officials and advocate for critical small business programs—especially as Congress negotiates key legislation like the reconciliation package and the FY 2026 federal budget.

New Report: What Mass Deportations Could Cost CA

A new report from the Bay Area Council Economic Institute warns that mass deportations could severely disrupt California’s economy, given that undocumented immigrants make up a significant portion of the workforce and small business community. The report shows that immigrants, including the undocumented, are deeply embedded in critical industries and own nearly 40% of self-proprietorships in the state. Deporting immigrant business owners could collapse entire local ecosystems, putting both economic growth and community stability at risk. If you know of similar reports in other states, send them our way!

Racial Disparities Dashboard

The Othering & Belonging Institute has released a revised Racial Disparities Dashboard, an open resource tracking nearly 80 indicators of racial disparities—such as wealth and maternal mortality—between Black and white Americans.

The dashboard includes reliable, nationally reported data and will continue to expand. It also features “Progress Report Cards” to monitor where disparities are shrinking or widening across time and key life outcomes.
