2024 State Bill Roundup: Take One
CAMEO is kicking off our 2024 advocacy efforts by sponsoring or co-sponsoring three state bills that aim to:
- Rein in online brokers by bringing them under the purview of the DFPI with a reintroduction of SB 869 – (Glazer).
- Protect commercial tenants (SB 1103 – Menjivar) by expanding translation requirements, limiting security deposits, and increasing notice periods for contract termination.
- Protect small business owners from harassment and predatory behavior in debt collection (SB 1286 – Min) by expanding the Rosenthal Act to apply to small businesses.
Stay tuned for opportunities to support these bills and engage with your representatives! We know of several other bills that we will support as well and let us know about bills you see that we should support.
