From our friends at the Microenterprise Collaborative of Inland Southern California:
The Microenterprise Collaborative of Inland Southern California (MECISC) is proud to announce the release of the study, “Micro-Businesses in Inland Southern California: Creating Meaningful Jobs.” The Inland Empire Women’s Business Center and the Coachella Valley Women’s Center conducted a study of their clients to learn more about what helps business owners become employers, creating new jobs for the region. The study also examined the types of jobs provided by micro-businesses and the wages and benefits offered. They discovered that micro-business jobs are often close to home, are flexible to accommodate caregiving and educational pursuits and are a career path. Highlights of the study and access to a downloadable copy are available here.
This study is informing the design of a new program offered by the Women’s Business Centers that encourages business owners to become employers. Information on this program, beginning October 6, “Taking the Leap: Entrepreneur to Employer,” is available on the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center website.
