Third Thursday Webinar: Gig Economy 101
Register for “Gig Economy 101: Samaschool and the Online Entrepreneur” on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at 2:00 pm.
About a third of the labor force is engaged in some kind of independent work, or what is popularly called the gig economy. Our challenge is to help these independent entrepreneurs be successful on these platforms and achieve viable incomes—and ultimately create wealth. Many of our members report that they are serving this cohort, but need guidance as to best offer coaching services.
Samaschool teaches an 8-12 hour curriculum on how to succeed as a freelancer, designed to benefit low-income clients. More recently, Samaschool developed a one-day workshop to train business assistance providers. Their workshop provides participants with an up-to-date orientation on the gig economy and equips them to deliver the curricula. The training provides an overview of the risks and benefits of independent work and teaches critical independent work skills such as personal branding, navigating gig economy platforms, and identifying offline work channels, client management and customer service, managing finances as a freelancer, and how clients can leverage independent work to meet their professional and personal goals.
