Overview:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing how mission-driven lenders operate, creating new opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen loan decisions, enhance customer intake and service, and expand organizational capacity. But with so many tools and emerging technologies available, it can be difficult to know where to begin.
CAMEO Network’s National CDFI Academy, in collaboration with U.S. Bank, is pleased to offer AI for CDFIs: From Strategy to Implementation, a 90-minute course designed specifically for CDFIs and mission-based small business lenders.
This new series designed for CDFIs and other mission-driven lenders looking for a practical and strategic approach to AI adoption. Through two 90-minute courses, participants will gain a foundational understanding of AI, learn how leading organizations are applying AI across lending and operations, and leave with a framework for identifying and prioritizing opportunities within their own organizations.
Who should attend this series?
This course is designed for team members interested in exploring how AI can strengthen their organization’s impact and operations. It’s particularly valuable for: Executive Directors, Leadership and Board Members, Operations and Program Managers, Technology and Data Managers, and anyone evaluating, implementing, or managing technology initiatives within a CDFI.
About the Instructor:
This training series is led by Mark DiGiovanni of ATX Advisory Services, joined by members of the ATX team. Mark has over 25 years of experience leading consulting engagements in strategic planning, operational assessments, software, and IT transformation. He has supported clients ranging from startups to public companies, with a strong track record of helping mission-driven organizations navigate complex technology challenges. Prior to founding ATX, Mark was a Director at RSM and led the Northeast Region for a national ERP consulting practice.

AI Foundations for CDFIs – August 25, 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET
- Understand what AI is and how it is impacting financial institutions and mission-driven lenders
- Identify organizational areas where AI can improve efficiency, and customer service
- Recognize opportunities and limitations of AI within the CDFI industry
- Assess organizational readiness for AI adoption
- Understand policy, cybersecurity, and other considerations related to AI
- Develop a roadmap for exploring and prioritizing AI initiatives within your organization
Course Two Learning Objectives:
Applying AI in CDFI Operations – September 1, 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET
- Evaluate AI tools that align with specific organizational needs
- Understand practical AI applications across lending, operations, reporting, and management
- Demonstration of AI tools
- Identify lessons learned and leading practices from a CDFI that has successfully implemented AI
- Establish next steps for piloting AI solutions
